Aroma – Aroma Beta-26

Aroma – Aroma Beta-26

Aroma Beta-26 is officially here, and it’s bringing some seriously powerful new developer tools and stability boosts to your Wii U! 🎮

If you haven’t tried Aroma yet, it’s a modular homebrew environment that turns your console into a customizable hub. It lets you run apps, plugins, and games directly from the Wii U Menu without needing to reboot—perfect for keeping that seamless experience alive.

What’s New in Beta-26:

  • New TCP Server & IOPShellModule: You can now redirect syslogs and inject commands via a TCP server! Just toggle it in the config menu and use the Python script to run commands via `cos`, `iosu`, or `aroma` help menus.
  • Enhanced Splashscreens: The SplashscreenModule now supports JPEG and WebP formats, giving you way more flexibility with custom art.
  • Memory Debugging: New support for tracking plugin heap usage is here, making it much easier to hunt down memory leaks during development.
  • CURLWrapper Upgrade: WebSocket support is officially enabled!

Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements:

Crash Fixes: Major fixes for crashes when loading incompatible plugins or exiting specific titles like Assassin’s Creed III, TNT Racers, and Mass Effect 3*.

File Redirection: Resolved potential crashes when redirecting files in games like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze*.

  • General Cleanup: Fixed a memory leak in the screenshot plugin and disabled mDNS for `ftpiiu` to prevent instability.

🛠️ Note for Developers:

If your plugins are acting up or appearing disabled, check your toolchain! We’ve fixed a major heap corruption issue related to devkitPPC r49. To get back in the game, simply recompile your plugins using WUPS 0.9.1 (or higher) and WUMS 0.3.6.
